Can you mark the packing list to say "gift" or lower the value for customs?
Solution
Sometimes, customers who are ordering from outside of the US and UK ask if we can mark the packing list to say that the parcel contains a gift, or if we can change the value of the contents. While we understand that some countries levy extraordinarily large customs fees and duty taxes, we are required by law to attach an accurate and full packing list to all parcels leaving the US or UK. We cannot accomodate any requests to alter the value of the items ordered. SHUKR has no way of knowing what sort of fees will be levied ahead of time, and we are in no way responsible for paying them. In addition, our distribution centers cannot comply with special requests to label parcels as "gifts" or mark out the value for a customer who is receiving it as a gift. If you are ordering from outside of the United States or UK, you may want to place one order with a friend, and share the flat rate shipping fees, as well as the customs fees. In addition, some customers in the past have found that they were not charged any fees by their government. The best way to find out what sort of fees you might have to pay is to contact your local Customs office.
